Welcome to the North Tooele Fire District

Established on October 6, 1987, volunteer firefighters founded North Tooele Fire District (NTFD) as a Special Service District. Our District has grown into a combined department Governed by a Board of Trustees with five Elected Officials and 50 members including Volunteer Firefighters, Full-Time and Part-Time Firefighters/ Administrative Staff, and Apprenticeship/ Internship Programs, serving 16,800 residents.

Our Response every year, we handle nearly 1,300 fire, rescue, and medical emergencies. Our District covers Erda, Lake Point, Pine Canyon, and Stansbury Park, along with 1,730 square miles of Northern Tooele County, including I-80. We work in a challenging rural and suburban desert mountainous environment, bordered by private and public lands as well as military areas. We collaborate with fourteen fire departments, Bureau of Land Management, Utah Forestry, Fire and State Lands (FF & SL), and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Ensuring safety along 73 miles of Interstate I-80.

Our Firefighters are trained to NFPA 1001 Standards and follow IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting, ensuring they are well-prepared for various emergencies and Live Fire exercises are conducted according to NFPA 1403 and our firefighters possess additional qualifications to handle diverse situations such as Emergency Medical Services, Hazmat Emergencies, Technical rescues, and Wildland Firefighting. In Compliance we adhere to all NIMS federal mandates and HSPD-5 requirements, ensuring our readiness for any incident.
